Unoriginal
OnlineAfter browsing through sites like blogs, createblog and resource sites, I’ve noticed that people are just doing the same thing over and over. What happened to being original? Here are a few examples from create blog, this, this, this and this. There are a lot more just like them but I only picked a few. Do you see how they have the same faded look with a couple of color dots. Now, these are good but just because it’s good doesn’t mean you should use it on everything. If you see people using the same technique a lot then you might want to try something else. It’s over done.
Here are some example of backgrounds that are over done; this, this and this. And yes, that last example is mine. These examples are older but people are still making them. The same colors, stripes, big circles and the same random brushes plopped on a background. I was actually amazed when I went through createblog and only found a few of them but they still run rampant on resource sites.
Photoshop and Paintshop Pro can do amazing things, the effects are endless so why not try them out. Instead of using the same tutorial as everyone else from the same site (I won’t mention names), type Photoshop tutorials into google and see what pops up. I’ve been using Photoshop for awhile and I probably don’t even know a third of what it can do. Half of the things I’ve learned was just by messing around and the other half is from tutorials on multiple sites.
I’m posting this because I’m hoping this will give some people a kick in a different direction. Be creative, different even if a lot of people don’t like it. I guarantee you someone will and pretty soon people will copy it and it too will be over done.

you’re right….many people ( include me) using the same type, but have you thoght that they can’t do another things?. I tried to find tutorials on google…but I can;t understand them…I don’t know why:( I prefeer to do simple things, maybe sometimes originals than to have harsh and low quality graphics…in time everyone will learn to do new things:D

Hmm, yeah, I know what you mean. Lots of people tend to follow trends in practically everything. Clothes, web, etc. It’s hard for people to be original I guess.

I’m sick of those stupid unoriginal things. No offense, but why people can’t be different? Please? I’ve never followed tutorials from resources sites, I always go to Google and find Photoshop tutorials from the experts–that’s how I learn about things.

People tend to go with the flow, and follow the trend. I try to stay away from trends and do what I think looks nice. It’s all you can do really.

A lot of people are following the same ‘trends’ lately. Nobody is original anymore, I think some people are scared to be different, if that makes sense.
I agree, people do need to try more ‘outrageous’ things with Graphic Programs.

Yeah the trends are endless lately. When one thing is “in”, it’s like everybody follows it in a herd. Too bad only a handful of people are willing to go against the “norms” and try out something different!

rAMEN sister. rAMEN. ugh. yeah. it frustrates me about the whole “separation of church & state” bs when it doesn’t even happen. gays aren’t asking to be married under the eyes of god in a church, they’re asking to be legally recognized as a married couple by the state. they’re not asking people to accept their lifestyle (although there’s no reason not to, sheesh it’s not like they wake up one day & decide to be gay). sigh. ignorance.
hahahaa i agree with your blog although i must say most of my icons look the same because i’m too lazy to come up with something different. it’s all about creativity. the possibility for photoshop = endless. & it’s all about creativity because if you don’t have that, you won’t get anything out of photoshop!

Ugh, I agree! No one tries to be original anymore, they just go with the flow. It’s hard to find unique and different graphics.

I try not to go with the flow all the time, but it is sometimes inevitable. Seeing the same thing over and over again does indeed get boring; people need to realize creativity does not equal fitting in!

I agree. I always try and think outside the box on my designs and what I update with and sadly that is why I don’t update often because I don’t want my site to become a clone of everything everyone else is doing. nice blog

i agree but disagree.
Most things look alike nowadays to satisfy fads in art. Most of all the graphic sites share the same design elements because people use what is ‘comfortably’ acceptable.
Still a few different things have been made,they just haven’t reached popularity enough to be accepted by the masses

i agree with you. I try my best to be original but i can admit that even I sometimes fall vitim to unoriginality.

Not everyone is original. In fact, I think it’s hard to be 100% original. I agree that there ate tons of things you can do on photoshop and PSP, but even the biggest sites are not 100% original. But I do think that we should all try to be original in some way.

I’m hoping that people will try to expand their style or try some thing new. Certain styles are great but if you use it on everything it becomes boring. You can always use the same teqnique but then add something else to it to set it apart. I’ve used several tutorials and mashed them together to make some amazing effects.
